FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DIAPER DISCO - KIDS ARE STAYIN’ ALIVE IN SUBURBIA
Changing the face of suburban family entertainment by converting a
nightclub into a daytime disco for the under-12 crowd and their cool parents.
Whitby, ON, (June 23, 2008)
On Saturday, September 27th, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m,, the Diaper Disco will convert the Johnny B Nightclub and Restaurant in Whitby into a daytime family dance party for the under-12 crowd and their cool parents.
Parents and kids alike will "shake their booty" on the dance floor to songs such as "Stayin’ Alive" and "Boogie Wonderland". Music will be kept at a much lower level and children will be able to enjoy healthy snacks and juice boxes. There will also be a designated VIP lounge for diaper changes and breast-feeding.
"I used to go to downtown clubs in my 20s and now that I have a baby, I don’t go out much anymore." admits Diaper Disco CEO, Leslie Hughes. "I miss going out dancing with my girlfriends, so I created an event that would allow us to get together with our families".
In addition to the fun-factor, dancing is a great form of exercise. Active Healthy Kids Canada (www.activehealthykids.ca) recently released their 2008 Report Card in which Canada’s overall grade is "D" - "insufficient appropriate physical activity opportunities and programs are available to the majority of Canadian children and youth". According to Healthline.com, Disco dancing burns 330 calories per hour. (Based on a 125 lb person).
Advance tickets are $10 per person or $30 for a Family Pass (4 people). Children not yet walking are free.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Valentine Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital.
